Specialty BOPP Film for Mono-Material PP Pouches & Flexible Packaging
Transitioning from PET/PP or PET/PE laminate structures to mono-material PP requires an outer web that delivers the rigidity, optical performance and lamination compatibility of PET — within a single polymer family. Standard BOPP food packaging films are not formulated for this role. Their mechanical profile is optimised for flowpack and HFFS applications, not for the stiffness requirements of stand-up pouches and doypacks that must maintain shape through filling, sealing and retail display.
Bioxpack’s AW12R-T1 addresses this gap directly.

Why Standard BOPP Films Don't Work as Outer Webs in PP Pouches
Stand-up pouches and doypacks have specific structural requirements that go beyond what a standard BOPP flowpack film delivers. The outer web must provide sufficient rigidity to maintain pouch shape when filled and standing — otherwise the pouch collapses at retail. It must laminate cleanly with PP cast or CPP sealant films without delamination under the mechanical stress of filling and sealing. And it must deliver consistent optical performance — gloss or controlled haze — across the full width of the roll for consistent brand presentation.
Standard BOPP flowpack grades are optimised for machinability on HFFS and VFFS lines — their COF, shrinkage and tensile profile is designed for single-web forming, not for laminate outer web performance. In a PP mono-material pouch structure, a standard BOPP outer web typically delivers insufficient stiffness and inconsistent lamination adhesion compared to the PET it is meant to replace.
What Makes AW12R-T1 Different
High rigidity at converting thickness
Its bioriented copolymer structure delivers TD tensile strength values significantly above standard BOPP — allowing the film to function as a structural outer web in stand-up pouch formats without increasing thickness or cost.
Interior side treatment for PP cast lamination
Unlike standard BOPP films treated for hot-melt or solvent adhesive systems, the AW12R-T1 interior side is configured specifically for adhesion to PP cast sealant films. This is the engineering distinction that makes the grade work in mono-material PP structures.
Dimensional stability under lamination
Low shrinkage in both MD and TD at lamination temperatures prevents outer web distortion during converting — a requirement the grade meets by design, carried over from its envelope window film origins.
Applications
AW12R-T1 is currently in commercial production for food pouch applications with European converters and brand owners — qualifying from lamination trials to full production in dry food and snack formats. Application references available on request. For converters currently producing PET/PP or PET/PE laminate pouches and evaluating a transition to recyclable mono-material PP, AW12R-T1 runs on existing lamination equipment without infrastructure change.
Food pouches
Dry food, snacks, confectionery, coffee, tea, pet food. Stand-up and doypack formats where pouch rigidity and premium shelf presentation are both required within a recyclable PP structure.
Non-food pouches
Personal care, cosmetic, home care refill formats requiring a rigid, printable outer web in a mono-material PP laminate.
Recyclability & Compliance
AW12R-T1 is compatible with the PP mechanical recycling stream. When combined with a PP cast sealant film and PP-compatible adhesive, the complete laminate structure meets CEFLEX design-for-recycling guidelines — eligible for PP stream recycling under EU PPWR.
